If you like to play poker, it’s likely that you play no-limit Texas Holdem. After all, it does seem to be the most popular game, these days. If you want a real challenge, though, you should try switching to limit Texas Holdem. Here are some limit tips to get you started.
First of all, resist the urge to get involved in too many pots. It’s easy to do because it costs next to nothing. However, remember that, when there’s a limit to what you can bet, there’s a limit to how much you can win. To use simple numbers, if you lost a dollar a hand for 10 hands and won a dollar on hand 11, you still would have lost nine dollars. That’s why it’s still important to be picky, even with cheap pots.
Second, remember that a lot of limit hands that you do play are likely to go all the way through to the end. So, you should only play those hands that you’re willing and able to protect to the end. It’s very unlikely that you’ll get anyone to fold the hand and give you the win by bluffing them off cheap pots. They’ll call if for no other reason than to keep you honest.
Finally, as with any poker game, remember that limit Texas Holdem is about reading your cards and knowing the odds, but it’s also about reading the people that you’re up against.
